We’re excited to be starting off our first full calendar year as GO2 for Lung Cancer. There is so much to look forward to this year. From the programs you know and love, to advocacy on Capitol Hill, this will be a huge year for the entire lung cancer community. Wondering how you can make a difference in 2020?  There are many ways to give back. Here are three easy ways that you can get involved this year:

1: Start a Fundraiser

Starting a fundraiser is a great way to give back to the lung cancer community, and inspire your friends and family to do the same. Independent fundraisers allow you to host an event or promotion to raise money to benefit GO2 for Lung Cancer’s free programs for patients and caregivers. From poker nights to walk/runs and everything in between, hosting a fundraiser is an easy way to combine something you enjoy with a cause you are passionate about.

2: Sign Up for a Walk/Run

Our National Walk/Run Series raises much-needed funds for research, education campaigns, and so much more. Each event provides fun, family-friendly activities that are suited for all ages. Come together with lung cancer survivors, caregivers, friends, and loved ones as we unite to help those impacted by lung cancer. Our walk/run series has events across the United States. Join us in a city near you!

3: Become an Advocate

Lung cancer receives the least federal research funding per cancer-related death. Lung cancer research received $20 million in federal funding in 2009, but has received less than that in each year since. As an advocate, your public support helps your representatives make choices and set priorities based on your interests. There are many ways to be a lung cancer advocate—and most of them do not require a trip to Capitol Hill. Take action today!

Make the most of this new decade! However you choose to support the lung cancer community, your contribution makes a difference. With so many ways to get involved, it’s easy to find one that works for you!
